About the Material
Tiger iron is a banded ironstone formed from three intergrown materials: tiger's eye, a quartz that takes on its silky golden shimmer from fibrous mineral inclusions; red jasper, an iron-stained chalcedony; and hematite, an iron oxide that gives the metallic silver-grey layers.
