Smoky Quartz, Fire Quartz & Moonstone Sphere

These spheres are a true three-in-one stone, a natural blend of smoky quartz, fire quartz and moonstone that formed together in a single mass before being cut and hand-polished into shape. Sphere carving is one of the most demanding shapes to produce, since the stone is ground and turned continuously until every angle is perfectly round, which is also what reveals the full sweep of smoky grey, rust-red hematite and creamy feldspar as you roll the piece in the light.

Sphere #1 - Blue Flash Moonstone

The palest and most translucent of the three, with a soft smoky veil over milky white. Its standout feature is a patch of genuine blue moonstone flash that lights up electric blue as you turn it toward a light source, accented by small rust-red hematite inclusions. If you want the moonstone in this blend to really perform, this is the one.

Sphere #2 - Storm and Ember

The boldest contrast of the group. Dark charcoal and near-black smoky zones swirl against bright white feldspar, punctuated by vivid orange-red hematite patches that read like glowing embers. The heaviest of the three and the most dramatic from across a room.

Sphere #3 - Deep Garnet Fire
156g | 5cm
The most richly coloured, dominated by deep red-brown fire quartz threaded with grey smoky quartz and flecks of white. Warm, earthy and saturated, with the hematite content on full display.

About the Material
Smoky quartz gets its brown to grey colouring from natural irradiation of the quartz within the earth over long periods. Fire quartz, also known as hematoid quartz, is quartz with inclusions of hematite, an iron oxide that produces the red and orange tones running through these pieces. Moonstone is a feldspar whose blue and white shimmer, called adularescence, comes from light scattering between microscopic layers inside the stone.
