About the Material
Lepidolite is a lithium-rich member of the mica family, and it is those stacked, glassy mica plates that create the flash you see rolling across the surface as the sphere turns. Its lilac to deep purple colouring comes from the lithium and manganese held within the crystal structure, and the paler veins running through these pieces are natural quartz matrix.
