Physical Formation
Selenite is a transparent to translucent crystalline variety of gypsum. It forms when mineral-rich water evaporates, leaving behind deposits of calcium sulfate that gradually crystallize. Large Selenite deposits are commonly found in ancient seabeds and evaporated inland seas.
