Polychrome Jasper (also known as Desert Jasper) is a dense, opaque variety of chalcedony that formed in large silica-rich volcanic formations. Trace minerals like iron oxide and manganese diffused through the soft silica gel prior to hardening, creating sweeping color waves.
Color: Swirling bands of rust red, terracotta, pink, tan, brown, teal, and soft violet-gray
Mohs Hardness: 6.5 – 7
