Physical Formation
Picture Jasper is an opaque, microcrystalline variety of quartz that forms when fine petrified mud, clay, or silica-rich volcanic ash deposits layer slowly over geological ages. Iron and other mineral impurities seep in to form complex dendritic landscape patterns.
Color: Warm tan, sandy brown, beige, cream, and terracotta with dark brown and black line banding
Mohs Hardness: 6.5 – 7
