Fluorite

Physical Formation
Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral that forms when mineral-rich groundwater fills cracks, cavities, and veins within surrounding rock. As the water cools and evaporates, Fluorite crystals gradually develop. Fluorite is known for producing some of the most vibrant colors found in the mineral world and often forms alongside Quartz, Calcite, and other minerals.

Metaphysical Associations
Fluorite is often associated with mental clarity, focus, organization, and balance. Crystal enthusiasts frequently use it when studying, planning projects, or making important decisions because it is believed to encourage clear thinking and reduce mental clutter. Different colors of Fluorite are sometimes associated with additional qualities, but all varieties are generally connected to clarity and personal growth.

Varieties of Fluorite
Fluorite occurs in an incredible range of colors and patterns. Green Fluorite is often associated with growth and balance, while Purple Fluorite is commonly connected with intuition and spiritual development. Rainbow Fluorite displays multiple colors within a single specimen, and Candy Fluorite is a trade name often used for especially vibrant, colorful pieces featuring bands of purple, green, blue, and yellow. Despite their differences in appearance, all of these varieties belong to the same mineral species: Fluorite.

Fun Fact
Fluorite gives us the word "fluorescence." Some Fluorite specimens glow brilliantly under ultraviolet light, and scientists named the phenomenon after this remarkable mineral. Popular trade names such as Rainbow Fluorite, Candy Fluorite, Green Fluorite, and Purple Fluorite simply refer to different color variations of the same mineral.
